Stress Management for New Graduates-Free-Samples for Students
Question: Discuss about the Stress Management for new graduates at Workplace. Answer: Stress refers to the pressure of an unpleasant feeling or emotion that impacts the health of an individual. Stress is the manner in which the human body responds to some sort of threat. Workplace stress refers to the harmful impact on the mind of the employees, which is caused due to the conflicts between the job requirements and the level of control of the employees over meeting the requirements (Cooper Quick, 2017). The level of stress is usually higher among the new graduates at workplace as they have no prior experience of workplace challenges. The research findings indicate that the fresh graduates suffer from workplace stress as they are unable to handle the work pressure or are unable to adjust with the working environment. The fresh graduates face new challenges and often do not know how to deal with those challenges due to which they are required to develop self- management skills. Self management involves setting up goals and managing the time appropriately. The employees must develop their motivation and concentration skills in order to develop their overall management skills. The employees are required to maintain a healthy lifestyle, which shall help them in reducing the stress levels. Another finding indicates that the major cause of stress among the fresh graduates is their incapability of managing time appropriately and they require time management skills to cope up with the workplace stress. They are usually unaware of the time management techniques as a result of which they suffer from stress under the pressure of meeting deadlines and achieving targets (Jaremko Meichenbaum, 2013). The stress can be removed by improving time management skills. The employees can make a list, set deadlines, avoid multi- tasking and utilize their own down time in order to develop their time management skills. The employers can assist them in developing their time management skills in accordance with the organizational activities. The research findings also indicate the importance of motivation on the performance of the employees especially in case of fresh graduates. The stress can be reduced by motivating the employees. Motivation helps them to keep a positive attitude and achieve the organizational goals and objectives. Both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is important for coping up with the workplace stress especially in case of fresh graduates in workplace (Certo, 2015). The employees can develop their motivational skills by learning and acquiring proper knowledge of the job role and maintaining a positive attitude. The employees must consult their team leaders or managers whenever they face any issues so that they can provide them with the appropriate solutions. Therefore, it can be concluded from the research findings that development of self- management skills, time management skills and motivation are essential for managing the stress among the fresh graduates. Stress management skills shall enable the fresh graduates to remain successful in their career and obtain their desired career growth. The stress management techniques shall enable the fresh graduates to increase their efficiency and productivity. However, it is necessary for the organizational leaders or employers to help the fresh graduates in coping up with the workplace stress (Laschinger Fida, 2014). References: Certo, S.
